ROY BENTLEY
Roy Bentley (right) pictured with Fulham fan and Ashwater author Peter Thomson. Roy Bentley is one of the true legends of football. The great Johnny Haynes called him the best player he ever played with. After the war, Roy had an illustrious career with Chelsea where he led them to the championship. He then joined Fulham in 1956 to become a rock in defence, playing over 150 times for the club. Revered by young and old alike, he's always ready to chat to fans and pose for pictures, nowadays relishing a new found fame! He is particularly honoured by Chelsea where he is often a much-lauded guest. If only Fulham would do similar. Much as we love Les Strong and Fred Callaghan appearing at half-time, wouldn't it be fitting for Roy to be more honoured by the club where he finished his career? Come on, you Whites.
