JOHNNY HAYNES ARRIVES IN CENTRAL LONDON

Just behind the National Gallery in London's Trafalgar Square lies the National Portrait Gallery. It is the nation's repository of paintings and photographs of thousands of people, famous and not so famous.

A year or so ago, I looked on the gallery's website to see what they had of our Maestro, Johnny Haynes. Well, believe it or not, there was nothing!

A few letters and phone calls later and there I was going into the gallery's inner sanctum, clutching a print of my portrait of the great man. The gallery was delighted to have the print, I was delighted to supply it, and even more delighted that at last Johnny Haynes was in the nation's archive.

It's now listed on their website. Search for portraits and Haynes.

However, if you search for Bobby Moore, you will find nothing! Yet another national disgrace! I think I must offer them my picture of Bobby scoring his only goal for Fulham.

By the way, the gallery is a great place to spend a hour of two. Such a vast variety of portrait.
