SUDDENLY AVAILABLE!

A few sets of THE COTTAGERS' JOURNALS have become available (found in the attic...).

These handsome volumes were published by Ashwater in 2000. The two books, presented in a slip case, comprise superb facsimile reproductions of Fulham FC programmes from the club's first two seasons in the Football League - 1907-08 and 1908-09.

The books are a fascinating read - full of social history, poignant and pertinent Fulham comments, match reports, hard-hitting journalism, cartoons and illuminating advertisements.

The principal contributor, and editor of the journals, is the famed Merula, whose real identity remains uncertain to this day. Whoever he was, he had liking for classical quotations and literary allusions! But his writing was always interesting: "His shooting [Millington's] was deadly, not only as being on the bull's-eye, but also because it was quick and unexpected. That's how to do the trick. Take the position by strategy."

"And so we bid goodbye to the Cup for another year, and are at liberty to concentrate our efforts to improving our position in the League." - Sounds familiar? Well, those words, written over 100 years ago, can be found in these volumes!

Originally published at £49, we are pleased to offer these just-found brand-new sets at just £15, while stocks last. (Framed picture of Johnny Haynes is not included!) These are heavy books, and post and packing is £8.

Approximately 500 pages in two volumes. You can order the books HERE.

Welcome to the Ashwater website - and compliments of the season!

FROM A SNOWBOUND READER:

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed 'When Fulham Went To Wembley'.

It arrived on Tuesday, so being snowed in on Wednesday gave me the perfect chance to read it cover to cover.

It was brilliant. I was too young to go to the game but remember being left with relatives in Wembley while my parents, uncles and cousins went. The book described the day perfectly, with a great selection of photos.

Keep up the good work, I can't wait for the next book!

OUR LATEST BOOK.

In four months at the beginning of 1975, Fulham played 30 matches, including 11 cup ties that led to them playing at Wembley for the first and only time in their history.

When Fulham Went To Wembley chronicles the whole remarkable story from Hull to Wembley, and all the matches in between.

JUST PUBLISHED.

This 1996-97 season was a turning-point in Fulham's history. Manager Micky Adams took a disparate group of players and moulded them into a promotion-clinching outfit that finally took the club out of the League's lowest division. In the following summer, Mr Al Fayed took over the club.

The Micky Adams Promotion Season, 1996-97 chronicles the dramatic season. All the games, all the players, all the drama.

Hello!

Ace photographer Javier Garcia snapped Nick Cusack before the Arsenal match reading a copy of our new book on the Micky Adams promotion season. Nick was a hugely influential player that season, and it looks as though he's finding the book a good read!
